Autumn is a profoundly beautiful time of year. The crisp air, the fog setting in each night on the valley floor, the turning of the leaves on the trees, the ingathering of the bounty of a summer’s labor; each are aspects of God’s Creation.  It’s as the writer of Ecclesiastes said.

We become impatient with the processes that govern our lives. It’s a deficiency in our psyche that comes from living too quickly in our convenient world. We’re accustomed to the instant gratification that is just a click away.

But the things that are most meaningful about our lives are things that take the most time.  The relationships that are shared together at home and church, and in our communities are built one day at a time throughout the course of many years; in some cases over a lifetime.
